STARZ has released the official trailer and key art for the fifth and final season of ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan,’ offering fans a first look at the explosive conclusion to Kanan Stark’s origin story.
Set to premiere Friday, June 12, the final season will stream weekly on the STARZ app and across all STARZ streaming and on demand platforms. The upcoming episodes will continue chronicling Kanan Stark’s transformation from a teenager navigating the streets of Southside Queens into the ruthless figure audiences first met in the original “Power” series.
The newly released trailer finds Kanan, portrayed by Mekai Curtis, stepping deeper into the drug game as he aligns himself with Breeze, played by Shameik Moore. With Raq still alive and no longer interested in protecting her son, the tension between mother and son escalates into what appears to be an inevitable war for power and survival.
The season’s key art features splitting the character between Mekai Curtis and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who portrayed the adult version of the character in the flagship Power series. The image symbolizes the final stage of Kanan’s transformation into one of the franchise’s most notorious figures.
Over the course of four seasons, Raising Kanan has expanded the mythology of the Power universe while exploring themes of betrayal, ambition, loyalty, and identity. As previously highlighted in coverage from The Knockturnal, the series has earned praise for its layered storytelling and standout performances, particularly from Patina Miller and Mekai Curtis.
Season Five raises the stakes significantly as Kanan fully embraces the ruthless mentality required to survive in Queens’ dangerous drug trade. Alongside Breeze, he begins carving out his own legacy while longtime rivals, the Thomas family, and the Mafia attempt to maintain control of a rapidly shifting criminal empire.
In addition to Miller, Curtis, and Moore, the cast includes London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Joey Bada$$, Hailey Kilgore, Wendell Pierce, Erika Woods, Tony Danza, Joe Pantoliano, and Leslie Grossman.
While Raising Kanan may be coming to an end, audiences have not seen the last of Mekai Curtis as Kanan Stark. The actor will reprise the role in the upcoming Power Origins series, which remains in production and will continue expanding the franchise’s interconnected storyline.
