International retailers of fine jewelry, Plukka and Artoriz, celebrated the opening of their joint Pop-Up boutique at 16 East 60th St. with Consuelo Vanderbilt and others.
The pop-up stop has become an efficiency of New York real estate in its own right. The short-term effect is ideal: the brief exposure is sold as exclusive and rare, the location can be posh and central, and the lease term is adjustable. Furthermore, its an an opportunity to tap or test a new retail location.
For international jewelry retailers Plukka and Artoriz, all the aforementioned are achieved. The Plukka and Artoriz boutique is centrally at 16 East 60th St., located across from department store Barney’s: near Midtown but comfortably within desirable East Side territory. It’s also Artoriz’s first exposure in the American market- the brand was founded in China in 2016, and brings affordable designer jewelry to trend-savvy shoppers in branded boutiques in Shanghai and Shenzhen. This is finally the appropriate opportunity to introduce American shoppers to the compelling brand.
The physical space of 16 East 60th St. is dynamic and elegant with a consistent and beautiful metal grid supporting Lucite cases designed to showcase some of the jewelry designs from known designers, some of which have never been on view before. Both Plukka and Artoriz are oriented toward the sub-$3,000 market, but Artoriz is happy to commission custom pieces, which is done often in China.
The opening night party was a fashionable and elegant affair, hosted by Consuelo Vanderbilt Costin, Gaia Matisse, and Susan Shin. It was an intimate preview reception with passed food and drinks, with guests such as Alexandre Assouline, Christine Mack, Mary Snow, Sofia Resing, arts curator extraordinaire Stacy Engman, Tracy Stern, and many others, visiting the space for the first time, but for many, revisiting a brand they love.
In perfect timing for the holiday, the Plukka and Artoriz pop-up boutique remains open through December 31, 2016. For more information on store hours or products, please call 929.381.8449. 16 E. 60th St, NY, NY.
