On Friday, Peacock hosted a fantastic virtual event to celebrate its new “Saved By the Bell” show. The highly anticipated TV event hits the streaming service on November 25 (Thanksgiving Eve). The gathering also served as a Friendsgiving event!
My day kicked off with a special hand delivery. Peacock sent me a beautiful basket full of artisanal treats and a box full baking materials curated by Little House Confections. The goodies included vegan cookies from @LoriaStern, Back To Nature Plant Based Multigrain Flax Seeded Flatbread, Divina Orange Fig Spread & Green Olive spread, Ines Rosales Olive Oil Tortas from Spain, Mixed Provencal olives from Arnaud, a spruce flavored soy candle from P.F. Candle Co and a bottle of TOST Non-Alcoholic Sparkling White Tea, Cranberry and Ginger beverage.
At 7 p.m., it was time for our virtual baking class, which Little House Confections founder Liz Roth hosted via zoom. Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley welcomed us to the class and they also shared the show’s trailer.
We got a chance to meet some of the new cast which includes Haskiri Velazquez, Mitchell Hoog, Josie Totah, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Belmont Cameli, Dexter Darden and John Michael Higgins. It was exciting to be baking live with the cast and show writer/EP Tracey Wigfield. Dexter was the informal emcee for the evening. He told jokes and chimed in with baking questions. Soon it was time to start baking! Our homework was to prepare a perfect “Bomb Ass Olive Oil Cake.” We were provided with sugar, flour, the orange, Bragg Olive Oil, a zester, a sifter, a cake pan and rosemary.
As someone who is not the best baker, I was a little bit nervous about participating in the baking class, but Liz Roth and her team made everything so easy and seamless that anyone can make a fancy cake with her guidance. I learned how to zest an orange for the first time and also add powdered sugar to the top of cake using a sifter. After mixing all of our ingredients together and popping the cake into the oven for 28 mins, we definitely had a bomb cake! My whole family consumed it within a day and raved about how delicious it was.
While we baked, we were also granted access to a Spotify playlist curated by DJ Michelle Pesce. It was such a great event. I love how creative studios are getting to drum up excitement for their shows. This was one of my favorite virtual events and I am looking forward to more! Be sure to catch “Saved By The Bell” on 11/25.
