New York Women In Communications, Inc. hosted their annual Ladies Who Laugh Fundraiser this past Tuesday.
For those of you unfamiliar with the organization itself, NYWICI is a not-for-profit association founded in 1929. The organization encompasses all fields of the communications industry including print, broadcast and online journalism, public relations, marketing, advertising and so much more. Some of our rap aficionados might recognize the event’s host Robyn Schall from her feature on A$AP Ferg’s “Shabba Ranks” video. Ms. Schall hosted the event, at Carolines on Broadway. The venue filled with laughter after she shared some of her stand-up along with four other talented comediennes.
The other comediennes who shared their hilarious opinions on relationships and the female experience included Aparna Nancherla, Phoebe Robinson, Rachel Dry and Brooke Van Poppelen. These funny women touched on topics we can all relate to from attending weddings to dating to being single to just living in New York City. The evening was a success with the fundraiser raising $12,259 for NYWICI scholarships which provides 15-20 incoming college freshmen who want to pursue communications the funds to help reach their goals.
