‘The Gilded Age’ season 4 red-carpet premiere on October 26 did not disappoint.
The red carpet was decorated with golden signage and white roses. Cast members arrived with what appeared to be fresh twists on period clothing. While on the carpet, we had a chance to talk with a few of the show’s stars, including Cynthia Nixon and Carrie Coon. Both shared what the development of the series has meant to them and spoke about the evolution of their characters. John Douglas Thompson also spoke to us about his role as a father on the show and the cultural weight of his character.

Then guests treated themselves to individual bags of popcorn and Saratoga Spring Still Water as they settled in to watch the first episode. Julian Fellowes opened the special viewing with a few words and notes of thanks. The audience laughed, gasped, and had plenty to say during and after the screening. In fact, the crowd was abuzz with thoughts after the lights came on and they began to clear the auditorium.

After the viewing, guests attended the afterparty at the iconic Plaza Hotel. Here the champagne flowed, the buffet was delectable, and the desserts that came in incredible detail were tempting. The evening resembled the kind of affair Bertha Russell would have thrown today. A violinist played to complement the tunes heard throughout the party. A custom photo op was installed, giving guests a chance to pose for their own gilded photographs. Overall, the premiere event set the proper tone of opulence for the show’s return.
