On The Scene: amfAR Generation Cure Holiday Party

On Thursday, December 3, The Knockturnal was invited to the amfAR Generation Cure Holiday Party in The Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel. 

The evening was hosted by a new generation of young professionals dedicated to helping amfAR end the HIV/AIDS epidemic. T. Ryan Greenawalt, founder and amfAR Board of Trustee Member, was in attendance. He was joined by John Cafarelli (a national chair).

Our friends over at Belvedere invited us to the elegant soiree. Guests enjoyed cocktails complements of the Belvedere and were able to bid on an auction lot item donated by the brand. The winner received a Belvedere mixologist and a personal chef for an evening dinner party in their home with 10 close family/friends. A Belvedere mixologist will showcase Belvedere martinis and other delicious cocktails perfectly paired with the culinary delights of Chef Danielle Marullo who will go to their home with groceries in hand and prepare special hors d’oeuvres.

The Young Leadership Council included: Carlos Alvarado, Daniel Bogart, Mark Creamer, Ranchel Garg, Gerald J. Graziano, Kara Herskowitz, Maggie Kervick, Jonathan Kreissman, Andrew Mancilla, Heather-Sky McField, James Schuck, David Smith, Fritz Vidanes and Adam Daniel Weiss.

A live cover band performed pop hits to kick off the party and later on DJ Elle Dee and Alexandra Richards were on the turntables. Model Sara Sampaio, designer Timo Weiland, actress Monique Zordan, actress Margot Bingham and actor Nolan Gerard Funk were a few of the notables in attendance. Microsoft was the evening’s official technology partner.

2 oz Belvedere Vodka
.25 oz Dry Vermouth (Lillet Blanc or Dolin)
Shaken, not stirred. Garnish with a lemon twist

1.5 oz Belvedere Pure
4 oz Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
Lime Squeeze
Garnish with a Grapefruit Twist
Combine all the ingredients in a tall glass filled with ice. Roll contents. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
