We caught up with up and coming singer songwriter Oly, who was honored at the SESAC Pop Awards. Check out our chat below:
What did you win your SESAC Award for?
Oly: I won an award for online streaming, for “Bring Back the Summer.”

Tell me about how you got involved with that song and did you co-write it with others?
Oly: Yeah well actually I wrote the song over a track that Rain Man produced and what happened was, I just wrote him on Twitter. I was just like, “Hey, you want to write a song with me?” And he sent it over and I sang it in a hotel room and then that’s exactly what you hear on the radio.
That’s exciting.
Oly: Pretty fast.
Is this your first “hit”?
Oly: Yeah it’s my first song that’s ever played on the radio so I’m pretty excited about it.
Tell me about how you got your start.
Oly: Yeah I’m singer/songwriter, a songwriter primarily. I spent a lot of time writing in Nashville. I play guitar and piano so I’ll just get with artists and try to help them write a song. And I’m looking forward to maybe doing my own artist thing in the future.
Anything in the works or coming out soon, or are you doing a lot of sessions?
Oly: I’m doing a lot of sessions. I have hundreds of songs that I would like to put out eventually. It’s just a matter of finding the right producer and finding the right time to put it all together.
Are you from Nashville originally or another state?
Oly: I’m originally from California and I spent a lot of time in Nashville doing music, in Arizona, which I went to high school. So I’ve been kind of all over.
