Nolcha Shows, held during New York Fashion Week, is the go-to destination to support independent fashion designers. This season’s show picked up where it left off in September with a show dedicated to Amnesia, Vitruvius, and Hathairat on February 10th.
Created by Eva Prokai and made in Hungary, Amnesia’s line consists of very loud and playful pieces as well as everyday, contemporary pieces that ensure the woman wearing it will stand out. From multicolored, cropped puffers to longline fur coats, it was clear there was a piece for every woman. Despite this range, the collection remains consistent where color is concerned. Blacks, whites, reds, and purples filled the runway offering a mix of vegan leather, faux fur, and sequins inspired by Budapest.
On the other hand, Vancouver based student creators under the Vitruvius brand played with neons and reflective fabric. This line was a mix of spunky blazers and streetwear that can easily be dressed up or down. It was the complete opposite of the Hathairat line, which was a very formal women’s line made from Italian threads and reminiscent of the Renaissance.
Hathairat Maneerat, the creative director of her brand, is known for her unique prints and designs which was present in the reoccurring lace and flower petal details in a majority of the NYC manufactured pieces.
