Christian Cowan’s SS24 collection puts sustainability at the forefront of fashion
As the fashion industry continuously grows in size and pace, it is imperative that we recognize the environmental implications of the consumerist nature of the industry. With sustainability becoming an ever growing priority, Christian Cowan takes a step to showcase how sustainable concepts and recycled materials can be incorporated into fashionable designs.
Cowan and Core Hydration, NYFW’s official hydration sponsor, debuted their collection at an exclusive preview event in the midst of NYFW. Cowan presented one of his dresses – a nude sequined two-piece – to the attendees. Core Hydration bottles are made of previously recycled plastics. Cleverly following this example, the sequins on the dress were made from Core bottles too, exemplifying just one of many ways to make sustainability an integral part of the fashion world.
We as consumers have the power to dictate which collections and designers receive our support. As the climate crisis becomes ever more prominent, we cannot turn a blind eye in this industry. After their first collaboration ‘Sweet Seat’, iconic fashion designer, Christian Cowan, and Candy Crush Saga, the fan-favorite match-3 mobile game, are back to unveil the most-needed accessory of the season – pockets. On Thursday, September 28 at The American Cathedral in Paris, Christian Cowan showed his largest collection to-date for SS ‘24. The designer’s Paris Fashion Week debut included a performance from Sam Smith and featured the season’s newest must-have accessory: attachable pockets. Tik Tok Star and Model, Meredith Duxbury, also made her Paris Fashion Week debut donning the collaboration wearing the Sugar Tuile attachable pocket in a light pink french tweed material that is featured throughout Cowans SS ‘24 Collection.
