The glasses kept getting raised in the air on repeat this week at the luxurious live awards ceremony for North America’s 50 Best Bars 2022.
The grand soiree was a perfect way to give thanks to the ever so important bartender and establishments that keep people happy all year long.
The inaugural list of North America’s 50 Best Bars, sponsored by Perrier, was announced June 7, 2022 at Capitale in New York. The new annual ranking featured bars from across the North American continent, including the USA, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
What was amazing to witness was the pure joy and excitement the entire group had as they supported with loud applause for each other throughout the entire ceremony. A rare site to see such an amazing atmosphere at an awards ceremony. The charismatic energy was adorably addicting. It was something that everyone wanted and they got in full force – just to feel grateful for an industry that is full of rock stars and champions throughout.
To kick off the ceremony, The Bamboo Room in Chicago was presented with the Campari One To Watch award, which is given to a bar outside the main list that the 50 Best team believes has the ability to break into the ranking in future editions.
New York’s Attaboy was crowned No.1 as The Best Bar in North America, with Mexico City’s Handshake Speakeasy at No.2 now boasting the title of The Best Bar in Mexico, followed by Licorería Limantour, also in the Mexican capital, close behind at No.3.
Toronto’s Civil Liberties was No.10 and won the title of The Best Bar in Canada, while Puerto Rico’s La Factoría, at No.12, earned The Best Bar in the Caribbean accolade. Overall, the USA lead the list with 29 bars, with Mexico fielding 11, Canada boasting eight and the Caribbean celebrating two top bars.
Other special award winners announced in the run-up to the event on June 7 included Overstory, New York, which was honored with the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award and Masahiro Urushido of NYC’s Katana Kitten, who earned the coveted title of Altos Bartenders’ Bartender.
