This weekend you can try a ton of these spots at deep discounts via ‘Bring Back West 3rd Street,’ an event aimed at highlighting all the glorious food, fitness and fades this stretch has to offer.
I stopped by Chica’s, purveyor of excellent Mexican cuisine and the epicenter of this weekend’s event, for some shrimp tacos and a Paloma. Yes, it was 5pm! That’s a fine time to drink!

Melanie Wine Bar was a smash hit. I had a sommerlier’s dream Pinot Grigio, a simple yet dynamic taste of heaven. I decided to go hard in the paint and order a hanger steak. Good lord do I love hanger steak.
This was the best I’ve had. It’s bold, y’all. I was impressed with just how flavorful it was, a real delight at the tail end of my 3rd street sojourn.

INVITE: Jameson Irish Whiskey Brings the Famed Bow St. Distillery to NYC
Wanting to experience the most awarded distillery in the world? No need to worry about flights, hotels, or designated drivers, Jameson Irish Whiskey has packed up the whole distillery and brought it to NYC’s vast Hudson Yards.
For two weeks only, you can experience Jameson’s Bow St. Distillery, where the Irish legend started in 1780. From Thursday, August 26, 2022 to Wednesday, September 7, the experience is open daily from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m, and until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Jameson Distillery on Tour at Hudson Yards Exterior Shipping Container
The three-part journey explores the Irish whiskey’s legendary story, with its triple-distillation process and signature smooth taste. The immersive experience is meant to be organic in character and social in spirit, offering dedicated space for friends and strangers to share in an exploration of Jameson’s heritage and history. Further, Jameson is putting its support behind the local busking community by covering the cost of up to 1,000 permits for New York City entertainers through its “Busk on Us” program. Busking is a shared tradition for both New York City and Dublin.
In fact, earlier in the week, celebrated musician Dermot Kennedy returned to his busking roots by singing his breakthrough hits as well as songs from his upcoming second album, “Sonder,” out November 4on Island Records/Interscope. Busking musicians will continue to perform throughout the week as the celebrations continue.
Jameson Distillery on Tour at Hudson Yards Jameson Tour
Whether you’ve never had a chance to sample Jameson or you’re an insider, you’ll enjoy branded activities including cocktail classes with New York bartenders, a putting green, and more, all while listening to live music from some of NYC’s renowned buskers. Of course, you’ll learn a lot about Jameson’s process and techniques. Get a first-hand look at how the celebrated Jameson Black Barrel expression happens. Hear from those who craft Jameson, feel the heat of the char, smell its vanilla notes and, ultimately, taste its complexity as part of an educational experience.
Jameson Distillery on Tour is free for anyone 21+ to attend, but must register online here. Walk-ups welcomed.

Guests, such as myself sipped on IKEA signature cocktails, ate classic IKEA foods with a modern twist, experienced one-of-a-kind exhibitions celebrating iconic IKEA products over the years, and previewed their upcoming collections KRÖSAMOS and BLÅVINGAD.
Marcus Engman, Chief Creative Officer at Ingka Group (IKEA Retail) says, “It has been a joy to see IKEA Festival grow over the past few years. This time, we are focusing on people who want to spend more time doing their hobbies and passions. We want to show how a little creativity when making your space your own can have a huge impact. A BILLY bookcase is a BILLY bookcase in every IKEA store in the world. It’s when you take it home that it transforms. That intersection is what we want to explore and celebrate during IKEA Festival.”
As well as the nine host cities, IKEA Festival will be taking place in many other IKEA stores globally. With activities like speed dating with home furnishing specialists, food trucks serving up the latest IKEA food offering, events in store, and special offers for IKEA Family members, be sure to check your local IKEA website to see what they have lined up.
