Rapper G-Eazy announces release date for sophomore album.

The Mantles are not a rock band that you might have heard ofโyet. They produce this new kind of alternative psych folk music that completely encompasses everything we have always wanted to hear in a band of that . .. genre? And now with their new release of All Odds End available to stream on Stereogum, we can get that much closer to listening to their new stuff.
Coming from the Bay area, the band has a number of tricks up its sleeve in terms of getting just the right sound to come out, and Michael Olivares sure delivers in terms of what we want to hear. Plus, they have the amazing Papercuts producer Jason Queyer standing right by their side to make sure that everything goes wellโand boy does it. The whole band is full of songwriters and performers, and it sure is seen in their album, which you find here.
Also available to stream is Maya Postepskiโs (Princess Century) Progress album, which will be released on October 12. After she released Lossy EP this year, sheโs releasing Progress under the name of Princess Century. Because of the anticipation, this early release was meant to better get fans to know her music better. Listen to it here.

In a collaboration between the two bands, Franz Ferdinand + Sparks blew up the stage at Terminal 5 on October 6, all in celebration of their tour after releasing their self-debuted album in June. After The Intelligencers opened for them, FFS took the stage by storm as they played songs from their album and shared anecdotes from their tour so far.
The band played a number of songs from their collaboration and separate albums, including “Police Encounters,” “Do You Want To,” and “Turn It Off.” Nearing the end of the show as “Number One Song in Heaven” was playing, Ron Mael of Sparks got up from playing the keyboard and started dancing around, garneringย a bunch of laughs and cheers from the crowd. Following that, “Save Me From Myself” and “Things I Won’t Forget” also had the crowd in aย dancing and cheering mood.
Crowd favorite “Take Me Out” was played soon after, much to the delight of the audience, and “Piss Off” brought the entire performance around just before a closing with the performance of “Collaborations Don’t Work.” The crowd went wild as the artists left the stage, after just being told by Franz Ferdinand lead singer Alex Kapranos that there aren’t two bands on stage, but rather one.
The show was laid back and super fun to attend. And as FFS continues their tour, we can’t wait to see what they do next.
