Silicon Valley can’t get all the tech love.
Meta Lab: Los Angeles invited top content creators, influencers, and media… along with Anderson.Paak, Chloe Bailey, and Claudia Schiffer to come check out the grand opening for one of LA’s biggest pop-ups of the season.
The metaverse is open — and as part of its continuing push into digital (and also chic) eyewear, Facebook’s parent company Meta introduced its new experiential space right in time for the holidays. Guests of the event, and now SoCal shoppers, can try out the new Ray-Ban Meta glasses, complete with smart AI assistant and customize their glasses cases as well.
The pop-up kicked things off to quite the celebratory start by inviting four time Grammy Award winner and celebrity DJ Pee.Wee (aka Anderson Paak) blasting out bangers and getting the crowd pumped up — including Chloe Bailey who was also spotted rocking with him. Btw, you may have also seen him featured in their commercials for some synergy with their brand marketing.
Chloe Bailey posted pics and videos of the event to her 7.5 Million Instagram followers — how meta! ;).
Guests nibbled on passed hors d’oeuvres and specialty drinks as they danced the night away and checked out the many installations at the event.
The fashionable crowd got their inner techie involved as they tested out the smart AI assistant on the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, venturing into an immersion experience with an AI-generated version of Malibu, with fiberglass palm trees.
That’s right, you no longer have to wait in an hour of traffic to get yourself over to the ‘Bu.
Another popular spot: an immersive recreation of Whittier Boulevard, with lowrider cars on the street.
What to Expect at the Pop-Up
With the pop-up now open to all — and located right in WeHo’s busy Melrose design district — shoppers can stop by and check out the coveted eyewear and immersive experiences, as well.
The store highlights live in Southern California, celebrating lowrider culture in particular with various displays, and features the work of photographer Estevan Oriol, model maker Armando Flores, and artist Jacqueline Valenzula.
Meta Lab: Los Angeles is located at 8600 Melrose Avenue.
