We recently joined Maui Jim for their new collection at Tiki Tabu. The Hawaiian themed bar located in the chic Sixty LES Hotel (which also hosts the iconic Blue Ribbon sushi restaurant and a beer garden) served as the perfect getaway from the chaotic intensity of the New York City summer heat.
The event featured delicious treats to go along with the island theme such as savory Mediterranean hummus with pita chips and fruit platters along each Maui inspired table along with Hors d’oeuvres like cocktail shrimp, hamburger sliders, and sushi rolls. Along the bar, bartenders served custom drinks like a light sunshine cocktail and the best tasting Frosés (Frozen Rosé) we’ve ever tasted.
The highlight of the event was the Maui Jim sunglass station where brand ambassadors educated guests to the new collection of sunglasses as well reintroduce some of the classic styles. Maui Jim sunglasses are made to soak in the sun and created on the Hawaiian Islands to make the colors shine. The sunglasses also feature patented PolarizedPlus2 lens technology for brilliant color so every detail is crisper and cleaner and without glare or harmful UV.
We were able to slip on a few pairs to experience the difference. Some tinted lenses are even created with filters that change colors to be more stunning and rich. We picked out the Kawika sunglasses as the standout of the new collection, made with clear crystal frames and Blue Hawaii lenses made from MauiPure – the lightest weight choice for long days in the sun making this style was not only chic but also high performance. Fishnets and strings of lights lined the roof of the venue towards balconies where guests were able to enjoy their new custom sunglasses that make any sunset look like a vacation.
