Stepping into the World of Mascot Athletes.
I was invited to attend a one-of-a-kind training session, and I got to see what it was like firsthand to train and be a mascot. This wasn’t just any regular event—it was a unique experience where I stepped into the world of mascot athletes, with professional trainer Jeromē Bartlett leading the way.
The mascot training experience is unlike anything I expected. From learning how to catch and throw with mascot hands to performing endzone sprints while wearing a weighted vest, every challenge was designed to showcase the athleticism behind these iconic figures that are often overlooked.
TYLENOL®: The “Unofficial Sponsor of Mascots”
TYLENOL® is stepping up as the “Unofficial Sponsor of Mascots” this playoff season, bringing attention to these often-underrated athletes. As part of their Care Without Limits® initiative, TYLENOL® is dedicating resources to support mascot athletes and raise awareness of their endurance and the physical toll the job takes.
Mascots are so much more than just the faces of sports teams—they are the heartbeat of game days, bringing energy, joy, and spirit to the stadiums.
Experiencing the Grit of Mascot Training
TYLENOL® not only highlighted the fun side of mascot training but also demonstrated the grit it takes to perform in such an intense role. The mascots are often in heavy costumes that can weigh up to 50 pounds, and the physical strain they endure is remarkable. Through their partnership with Jeromē Bartlett, TYLENOL® is helping us understand the hard work behind those high-energy performances we all know and love.
During the training, I got a chance to try some mascot-inspired exercises myself. These included balancing while squatting with weights to challenge my core strength, performing dynamic stretches, explosive squat jumps, and even box jumps to work on my agility and strength.

$50,000 in Support for College Mascot Programs
TYLENOL® also announced a generous $50,000 donation to college mascot programs and launched the #TylenolMascotGameFaceSweepstakes, which offers college mascots the chance to win $10,000 by sharing their training stories. This initiative further reinforces TYLENOL®’s commitment to supporting mascot athletes and recognizing the hard work that goes into each game day appearance.
Mascot Athletes on the Big Screen
In addition, TYLENOL® will be airing a new Game Face ad, featuring mascot athletes, during NFL playoff games, including a spot in the Super Bowl pre-show. This ad is running across major networks like FOX, CBS, and NBC, and streaming on Hulu, Max, Peacock, and Paramount+ through February 15.
A Deeper Appreciation for Mascot Athletes
The experience was not only fun but enlightening, allowing me to gain a deeper appreciation for the mascot profession. These athletes work tirelessly behind the scenes, and it’s about time their training, strength, and dedication get the recognition they deserve.
Mascots are truly beacons of positivity, both inside and outside of their costumes. They have a unique gift for bringing joy to others, and Tylenol clearly recognizes their value by offering financial support to celebrate and uplift their impact.
