For Fall 2016, Hervé Léger by Max Azria stayed true to its influential roots with a different perspective. This season paid tribute to the tough and alternative while remaining an ode to the female form.
Interwoven chains, plaid prints, and grommets permeated the collection suggesting a serious nod towards rock and roll while evoking unapologetic sex appeal. The classic body-con structures of the dresses played with the ideas of deconstruction and reconstruction. The metal details allowed for creative layering, while the safety pin detailing reflected a light punk influence. Paired with black leggings and leather lace-up boots, the looks suggested a sensual defiance that celebrated independence.
To complement this, models wore a half-braid on the left side letting the rest of their hair to fall in soft waves with fresh complexions and natural lips. The strong technologic beats by Peaches and Public Image, Ltd. set the provocative and rebellious tone.

BCBG presented their fall 2016 collection at the The Arc, Skylight at Moynihan Station on Thursday, February 11. The collection consisted of voluminous proportions for fall, a stark contrast from the body con items we’ve seen from the brand in the past. The different textures-knits, patterns, quilted details- served as creative updates to standard basics, that were rarely reminiscent of their previous form. BCBG showed thick plush color blocked coats along side a lurex top and legging combo paired with an amazing embellished leather skirt. This season, BCBG advocated for longer hemlines and higher waist lines. The long dresses and skirts were paired over slashed shiny leggings. The collection was comprised mostly of Lurex, knits, leather and fur, in neutral tones of white, black, grey, burgundy and navy. My favorite piece was the white and navy pin stripe draped skirt.
Guests included Amanda Steele (Beauty YouTuber, MakeupbyMandy24), Sam and Calli Beckerman (Sisters, Bloggers at Beckerman Blog), Fern Mallis (President at Fern Mallis LLC), Jay Manuel (Makeup Artist), Anelisa Durham (Model), Nina Agdal,(Model), Abbie Cornish (Actress and Rapper), Bailee Madison (Actress) and Sami Gayle (Actress).

For Kaelen Fall/Winter 2016 collection, grid prints, dark florals, silver metallics, and bell sleeves dominated to create a feminine sporty look. The playful layering added dimensions for a cool girl feel. Lead Hair Stylist Joseph DiMaggio created an beautifully simple look to accompany the collection.
“Today is super fun. We are basing it around the collection which has more of a sporty feel. So the long haired girl, we are pulling them off the street with their windswept hair, giving them a finger center part, kind of natural not too perfect or too messy, then pulling it into a low pony tail with whatever the texture is, kind of keeping it. We have another type of girl with kind of textural hair. We are prepping them with our new blow dry primer, which I call it ‘awesome sauce.’ It’s amazing. It just kinda tames everything down and adds hydration without getting heavy or oily or feeling like you have too much product in your hair. It’s really simply and beautiful.”
See below for how the step by step of how to get the look:
- Apply NEW Davines Your Hair Assistant Blow Dry Primer to damp hair.
- Starting at the root, rough dry the hair with the hair dryer nozzle facing down, using your hands as you tousle dry the entire head.
- Create a messy center part, then pull the hair back into a low pony, securing the hair with an elastic or cord.
- Use your fingers to create texture at the root of the head. Continue the texture through the ponytail.
- Take a piece of hair from under the ponytail base and wrap around the elastic or cord so it’s hidden.
- Finish with NEW Davines More Inside Is A Dry Texturizer to finish and hold.
