Recently New York City gathered at Terminal 5 for the illustrious LegendsNFT launch party.
In celebration of Image Protect’s LegendsNFT launching their Celebrity NFT site: https://legendnfts.io, the city gathered at terminal 5 for a special launch party and concert featuring performances from artists who have all created their own LegendsNFT including: Jim Jones, Bizzy Banks and Kaycyy. The evening’s DJs included Dickbyair, Odalys, DJ Cutbird & Tah and the event was hosted by L’Orèal Luchi from Hot 97. There was also a red carpet featuring LegendsNFT CEO Lawrence Adams as well as as special guests and artists like Maino, Dyce Payso, DJ Blue Diamond, Papi Yerr, Keyu, Journey Montana, K Goddess, Nizzle Man and many more. The event was organized by Avery Watson’s MultiArtistry Entertainment.
LegendsNFT celebrates the intersecting worlds of art, music and technology. According to LegendsNFT an NFT is “a crypto asset representing an intangible digital item such as an image, video, or in-game item…NFTs’ ownership is recorded on the Blockchain, allowing an NFT traded as a stand-in for the digital asset it represents.” We were able to catch up with LegendsNFT CEO Lawrence Adams as well as artists Bizzy Banks, KayCyy, Lil Keyu and Journey Montana to learn more about their involvement with LegendsNFTs. Unfortunately since the launch, Lawrence Adams has passed away and will be remembered by many for the amazing legacy he left behind.
Lawrence Adams
The Knockturnal: Can you start off by telling us about Legends NFT and the platform as whole?
Lawrence Adams: So we’re dedicated to capturing impactful moments of an artist who’s creating music and align it with the release of an album. What we’ve got to do is create immortality for the artist. We feel as though Crypto and the Blockchain will be here for hundreds of years.
The Knockturnal: How did you get involved in the NFT game?
Lawrence Adams: I’ve been involved in the Crypto game and I believe in Crypto. I have a capital marketing background and capital markets are secluded, and not a lot of people are invited to that game and I don’t have a degree from Wharton, I don’t have that MBA that you gotta have to walk into Goldman Sachs. The banking system is centralized and we have a decentralized blockchain and that’s how I got involved and why I got involved. I knew it was going to be big, I believed in Bitcoin a long time ago.
The Knockturnal: How have NFTS changed art?
Lawrence Adams: Do you have a picture in your living room? How many people see it? 10? If it’s digital up to a million people in a month can see it. There’s the Mona Lisa, you can go to Walgreens and buy a print of the Mona Lisa, but there’s only one original and she’s in the Louvre in France, if you own a piece of that you’re good and I feel digital art is creating a platform that will create viewership and ownership broader than regular art.
The Knockturnal: In your own words how does Hip Hop and music in general fit into the NFT world?
Lawrence Adams: It releases the artist from the shackles of the label, that’s a fact and a lot more of that is coming down the road. You watch, it gives them freedom and in other ways, our approach is that it partners with the labels because again if you love an artist’s album, and you’re passionate about the album you can see images of what they were going through at the moment of them creating that album, they go hand in hand.
Bizzy Banks
The Knockturnal: Why are NFTs important in Hip Hop?
Bizzy Banks: I think it’s important for people in general, it’s just I have a hip hop platform so why not use my platform to promote NFTs.
The Knockturnal: Can you tell us about you’re currently working on?
Bizzy Banks: I’m working on promoting my album Same Energy out now.
KayCyy
The Knockturnal: What are you currently working on?
KayCyy: I’m working on my album that I might be dropping at the top of the year and we got some great features on there like A Boogie and Kanye West.
Journey Montana
The Knockturnal: Why do you think NFTs in the music space are important?
Journey Montana: NFT’s are important, they’re new streams of income.
The Knockturnal: What are you currently working on?
Journey Montana: Im currently working on my second EP, I just dropped my debut EP. I’ve been in the studio and Im about to shoot my next visual and singles are on the way!
The Knockturnal: What do you think about tonights event?
Lil Keyu: My manager brought me out here tonight and I was excited to learn something new, I think it’s really dope that Jim is doing this and teaching us stuff that we’re not really taught.
The Knockturnal: What are you currently working on?
Lil Keyu: I’ve got a track on the way called “Loca” and the video is gonna be dropping with it.
