The Addison made a striking first impression during its preview event, showcasing the venue’s potential as a standout addition to Midtown Manhattan’s nightlife scene.
The opening preview of The Addison offered me an impressive introduction to what I’m sure is poised to become one of Midtown Manhattan’s most compelling new destinations. Upon entering the venue, I was immediately struck by the sense of grandeur that defined the space. Rich velvet textures, gold-accented décor, and moody, low-lit interiors created an atmosphere that felt both refined and inviting. I felt a drastic change from the starkly modern street outside, to the lush, loose, and lavish lounge inside. It felt like I had just traveled through time to the Roarin’ 20s.

One of the most memorable design elements was a collection of portraits depicting wild animals dressed in elegant 1920s attire, a whimsical touch that added personality and charm to an otherwise sophisticated setting. The venue’s spacious layout, dramatic lighting, and carefully curated aesthetic established a strong first impression from the moment guests arrived.
Throughout the evening, I explored the venue while enjoying a selection of signature cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres. Among the cocktail offerings, the Clover Club stood out as my personal favorite. Made with gin, lemon juice, raspberry syrup, egg white, and fresh raspberries, the drink delivered a balanced blend of citrus and sweetness while maintaining the classic elegance associated with the cocktail. The beverage program overall reflected the same attention to detail evident throughout the venue, with each drink thoughtfully prepared and presented. Conversations flowed easily as I moved between the venue’s multiple bar areas, taking in the atmosphere and sampling the evening’s offerings.

The culinary selections were equally well thought out. Passed bites circulated throughout the night, providing guests with an opportunity to experience a preview of the menu. I personally gravitated towards the Mac & Cheese Bites, which proved especially memorable, and I had to indulge several times. There were also several other hors d’oeuvres like mini tacos and french onion soup bites that all complemented the cocktail program. The combination of elevated comfort food, attentive service, and a steady soundtrack provided by DJ Yoni Cohen helped maintain a lively yet approachable energy throughout the event.
As the evening progressed, The Addison’s versatility became increasingly apparent. Friends gathered for conversations, I took photographs beside the venue’s striking glass-enclosed wall of illuminated liquor bottles, and others filled the dance floor as the music picked up. The venue successfully balanced the elegance of an upscale cocktail lounge with the energy of a social gathering space, offering an experience that felt polished without becoming overly formal. By the end of the night, I believed The Addison had delivered a strong debut, showcasing not only its distinctive design and hospitality but also its potential to become a notable addition to Midtown’s nightlife and social scene. I visit so many bar, rooftop, and lounge openings, but The Addison easily shot to the top of the list and will be visited by me again very soon.
