Kimpton Ashbel New York-Park Avenue, an exceptional boutique hotel in Midtown Manhattan, has officially opened and is welcoming guests to stay inside a fully restored 1928 Beaux-Arts landmark building. As a part of the IHG luxury and lifestyle portfolio, the Kimpton Ashbel beautifully blends historic architecture with residential-style interiors, allowing visitors to stay in a charming New York City townhouse setting rather than a traditional hotel.
Originally constructed in 1928 as the Doral Park Avenue Hotel, the limestone-clad property is located at 70 Park Avenue, marking a new chapter in Midtown Manhattan luxury hotel offerings for visitors. The Kimpton Ashbel New York-Park Avenue really has everything you desire in a hotel. With an enchanting historical building, modern amenities and personable hospitality, their opening is set to transform the standards for luxury stays in New York City.
There’s 205 guest rooms at Kimpton Ashbel New York-Park Avenue—including 14 family-friendly connecting rooms—as well as specialty suites, and even an extravagant 1,300-square-foot penthouse with two living areas, four baths and two balconies. The Knockturnal experienced a two-night stay in a Premium Room that was a peaceful break from hectic Midtown. The room had a light oakwood color palette with emerald green and gold hues that instantly brought a sense of calm and chicness. The size of the room was about 325 – 350 sq. ft., which was spacious and allowed us to easily move around without feeling cramped. The king bed had elegant bedding and was extremely comfortable—providing restful sleep. Other amenities included ample closet space, a mini fridge, a coffee maker, complimentary bottles of water, and Park Avenue views.

The room’s best amenity was the shower with a jetted bath. This combo is very rare in Manhattan. It offered a spa-like experience in a standard bathroom footprint that was very indulgent. We were able to soak in the tub and utilize the strong, high-pressured jets, which felt glorious. We were squeaky clean afterwards!
In accordance with the residential vibe, the hotel replaces a conventional lobby with intimate, interconnected residential‑style spaces, which includes a foyer, living room and family room framed by preserved architectural details. There’s plenty of sofas, chairs and tables for guests to lounge in this intimate setting. Kimpton Ashbel even offers guests complimentary coffee and tea in the morning as part of the Kimpton Kickstart program. And every night, free wine and beers are offered to guests during Kimpton’s Social Hour.
For more food and drink options, the hotel includes Park & Bel Café, which serves coffee, baked goods, seasonal fruit, and sandwiches in the morning, and small plates, cheeses, cured meats, and spiced nuts in the evening.

Another perk of Kimpton Ashbel is its ideal location. Situated on a quieter stretch of Park Avenue, the hotel is just a few streets away from Grand Central Terminal, Bryant Park and cultural institutions like the New York Public Library. Guests staying at the hotel are perfectly placed for sightseeing and exploring all of the world-class shops and restaurants right at their fingertips.
Kimpton Ashbel really feels more like a sophisticated NYC apartment than a standard hotel room due to its homey vibes. With all the charm of historic architecture and the comforts of a modern hotel, it’s a place where you can feel rested and be in the heart of the city. Book a room now, it’s worth it.
