The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is hosting the beloved Oscar Week events.
Celebrating the world of cinema on March 8, nominated animated shorts screened at the David Geffen Theater where this year’s nominees for the 95th Oscars in both Animation categories—Animated Short Film and Animated Feature Film— sat for a lively conversation.
The audience was thrilled to hear the journey of the filmmakers and the road they took as artists who made it to Oscar gold. Paying homage to them, everyone listened fully as guest moderator Glen Keane led the conversation. The animator reflected on how the film’s were like watching a moment when angels sing.
Captivated by the beauty of all of the films he went on to describe each as being uniquely magical for the viewer saying, “The films are so unexpected and fresh. It is what animation should do. Open your eyes and take your imagination on a journey.”
Animated Short Films include:The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse; The Flying Sailor; Ice Merchants; My Year of Dicks; An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I Think I Believe It.

Oscar Week events will make their debut at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and are open to the public with purchase of same-day general museum admission. Film screenings feature all nominated shorts, and panel conversations will feature Academy Award®–nominated filmmakers celebrating this year’s nominees in the Animated Feature Film, Animated Short Film, Documentary Feature Film, Documentary Short Film, International Feature Film, Live Action Short Film, and Makeup and Hairstyling categories.
