Hasbro Unveils New Star Wars, Marvel, Transformers, And My Little Pony Figures

Hasbro dropped a lot of new figures and toys at the 2016 Toy Fair.

There were a lot of new unveilings by Hasbro this weekend at the Toy Fair in New York, filled with fan favorites as well as signs of a new direction each line is heading in. Hasbro has unveiled something new for literally everyone.

To start off, Transformers revealed a new version of the Warrior Class Windblade, Warrior Scorponok, Power Surge Optimus Prime, Scourge, Fracas, Blurr with Hyperfine, as well as a set of new leader class figures. Biggest of all they unveiled the very large Fortress Maximus, not only standing at a formidable size but also with a good deal of weight. They also stopped a rumor that their comic series was cancelled by announcing a new set of issues were slated to be released.  In more non-toy news, they announced the release of a new album called Transformers Roll Out, with songs from the series. In addition to that they announced the Transformers Earth Wars Mobile Game, which looks to be cut from the same cloth as Clash of Clans and Boom Beach.

My Little Pony were no slacks either. Much of their news centered around their animated television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and it’s upcoming season. They also unveiled the new Guardians of Harmony line of figures, which are based on the figures from the television series. Some characters in this new line include Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Shadowbolt and Shining Armor as well as party cannons, swords and armor that’d you find on the show. In addition to that, they mentioned a big name would be joining the cast of the upcoming My Little Pony movie, Emily Blunt.

Star Wars certainly intrigued the audience with a series of toys highlighting an almost new era of Star Wars figures. Most of the figures they announced this time around were female, very unlike them but very welcome. From the television series they’ve added a couple of new Sabine figures, with her winter and summer hair. They’ve also added the Black Series 6-inch Darth Revan figure as a result of a fan poll taken last year. Best of all, they unveiled a New Hope Princess Leia figure which looks absolutely amazing in so many ways. In addition to that, they added new Finn, Rey, and Maz Kanata figures. One area they really beat the competition in is the detail, from the materials they used, like the cloth and perfect color on New Hope Princess Leia to the minor idiosyncrasies they’ve included in each piece. It’s pretty awesome for any fan of the series.

Marvel probably had the longest lineup of releases out of the lot. The X-Men have got their own line of Marvel Legends figures. In addition to that, they unveiled a new group of figures from the upcoming film Captain America: Civil War such as a new Spider Man. They also unveiled the look of the new Doctor Strange figure based on Benedict Cumberbatch. One new unveil that caught everyone’s attention was the new 12-inch line of figures, kicked off by figures of Captain America and Iron Man. Not only were they incredibly detailed, but also sported interchangeable parts. Best of all was their announcement of a more high end solution for cosplayers, those who like to dress up as their favorite fictional characters, in the form of Captain America’s shield and Iron Man’s helmet. Both are a 1:1 ratio to those used in the film and are freaking awesome. It doesn’t matter if you’re a cosplayer or not, I’m sure you’d think it’s pretty cool to walk around with Captain America’s shield for day and for only a hundred bucks, it’s completely doable and completely amazing.
