The Game Releases New Song ‘Let Me Know’ Ft. Jeremih

On Friday July 8th, The Game coordinated with Snoop Dog to lead a peaceful protest in L.A., calling men of all races and creeds to stand unified against police brutality.

Following his successfully peaceful protest, The Game recently released his news song “Let Me Know” which also features Jeremih and a sample from Aaliyah’s “We Need a Resolution.” The title of the late female singer’s song is fitting for The Game’s new release because the rapper, throughout the song, is actively searching for an answer to the problem of division both within and outside the U.S.

The song addresses many of the recent tragedies which have occurred over the course of a few weeks’ time, from the Orlando shooting, to the terrorist attack in France on Bastille Day, to the killing of Sandra Bland. He questions almost in a stream of consciousness fashion the contradictions that have been exposed due to all of the recent killings. When Philando Castile and Alton Sterling were gunned down by police officers on camera, people condemned the police. However, when five officers were killed in Dallas, it seemed as if the general attitude regarding distrust of the police had all but disappeared. Then, The Game goes on to point out that these are only the events of the summer of 2016, as past tragedies cannot be forgotten in the wake of new ones.

The Game even sheds his stage name and subsequently his idol status when he says “This ain’t the game, I come to you as Jayceon,” a verse which reminds the listener that he, like everyone else in the world, but especially people of color, is afraid of the state the world is in. He demands that people “wake up” and see what horrors are happening in the world, and unite instead of divide when facing hardships.
