Kevin Hart sells out football stadium as executive producer, double agent/comedian in Kevin Hart: What Now?
You know that feeling you get in your stomach after laughing for too many consecutive minutes at a time; to the point where you don’t want to laugh anymore because it hurts, but you just can’t make yourself stop; that was me in somewhat fetal position at the special screening for Kevin Hart: What Now?. And after looking around the theater, I wasn’t the only one.
In a sort of James Bond spoof with Halle Berry as his leading lady, and other featured actors like Don Cheadle from television series House of Lies, and The Hangover’s Ed Helms, just to name a few; Hart, playing the Bond version of himself, wins an insane amount of money at a poker game, then has to fight off a set of blockers & attackers, shanks a guy to death, drives through fire, all while in route to the big stage making it just in time for showtime. Satisfying of course your funny-bone, and a bit of your action/adventure bone too, Hart goes from funny-man to stuntman; is there anything this man can’t do?
The stand-up comedy concert broke records for tickets sold in August 2015 at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, and is expected to break some more records in the box-office this coming weekend.
Also, quite the metaphoric narrative, after being recently named Forbes’ Highest Paid Comedian, Hart now surpasses the likes of Mr. King of Comedy himself, Jerry Seinfeld.
After years vested in honing his craft and taking on roles in classic films like Along Came Polly, Soul Plane, The 40-Year Old Virgin, Barbershop and a great of others, Hart has indeed changed the game of comedy; he quietly climbed the ranks over the years to now winning all the accolades; encouraging folks to laugh at his pain from joking about how private school has negatively rubbed off on his kids, to being a celebrity while trying to do number two in a public bathroom – Hart is all too funny.
Playing over a 100 shows a year, on top of his movie roles, being a dad and new husband – twice over; he really does have you wondering ‘what now?’ every time he comes with something next. In theaters Friday, October 14th, you have to go see it.
Hart is nothing short of funny- no pun intended.
