Have you ever seen the classic cartoon, Tom and Jerry? Well, the hit cartoon is turning into a movie and Latin superstar, Nicky Jam is apart of the voiceover cast!
Latin superstar Nicky Jam has graced our television screens with performances on stage at Premios Juventud and on the movie screen with supporting roles in Bad Boys for Life and XXX: Return of Xander Cage, but this time around he’s facing a new challenge and that is voice acting. The classic cartoon Tom & Jerry is coming to our movie screens (and television screens via HBO Max) on February 26th with a diverse cast including Chloë Grace Moretz, Colin Jost, Michael Peña and Nicky Jam as the voice of ‘Butch’.
Aside from appearing in the classic cartoon movie, Nicky Jam is also adding new songs to his music list. He has recently released a new Latin hit single with Bachata powerhouse, Romeo Santos called “Fan de Tus Fotos” (“Fan of your Photos”) and has already garnered more than seventeen million views on Youtube, and still climbing. This isn’t the first time these two superstars have worked together. They’ve also worked together alongside Daddy Yankee in the Latin hit “Bella Y Sensual” (“Beautiful and Sensual”) which was nominated at the Latin American Music Awards.
Although Nicky Jam has garnered many accolades during the course of his career, he has also stepped into new and unfamiliar territory within the entertainment industry. He now has his own late-night talk show on YouTube called The Rockstar Show which has received good reviews and interest from companies who are wanting to buy the show to expand it further. The move originally came about because of the pandemic and with millions of Americans staying home this is another way for Nicky Jam, among many other Latin artists, to reinvent themselves in a time where concerts and public crowded spaces are temporarily shut down. His show airs every week on his YouTube channel and features an array of Latin artists who feel comfortable opening up to the Reggaeton superstar.
Actor, Singer, Host- Nicky Jam is doing it all and still has so much more to accomplish. As I spoke with Nicky Jam, he told me that “he’s trying to do it all” and that his main point of concern is to stay relevant for years to come in this ever-evolving musical industry.
Tom & Jerry premieres in theaters and on HBO MAX on Friday, February 26th.
