Actor and Rapper Davo, shares how he landed the role as his father, guitarist Junior Marvin for The Wailers in the film ‘Bob Marley: One Love’ from an Instagram DM from his sister.
After a late studio session working on his upcoming album, he received a DM from his sister on Instagram. The post was a casting call for the role of his father Junior Marvin, The Wailers’ guitarist. Unsure if the casting was real, he showed his dad who was unaware of the production for confirmation. Davo was led to believe the casting was fake and decided to think no longer about the project until a friend suggested going after the possible opportunity. After reaching out to casting and expressing his interest in playing his dad and his experience playing various instruments, he landed the role. “The message, it’s bigger than just entertainment,” is what Davo hopes viewers take away from the film. With the film now out, he has turned back to working on his music. Davo is expected to release an album collection starting with LXD(Live and Dream): Purple Heart. “LXD is an acronym for many different things, I have a color collection for my albums, each album will have a different color to give a different theme, a different vibe,” says Davo.
Following the euphoric album Purple Heart will be LXD(Love and Drugs): Rockstar Blues, with a pop and rock sound. You can currently listen to his recent single ‘On the Run’ and expect the music video to be released soon. To keep up with all things Davo you can follow him on Instagram for the latest updates.
