On Wednesday, September 25th, the renowned Scottish whisky brand “Dewar’s” celebrated the global launch of their eight-year-old Caribbean Smooth Rum Cask Blended Scotch Whisky. This new premium whisky is a smooth rhythmic blend of Scottish and Caribbean flavors, beautifully infusing tastes of both rich cultures. Double aged to perfection and finished in rum casks for a touch of the tropics, this unique extra smooth whisky provides an immersive cultural experience.
The celebratory launch offered an exclusive first taste through The Scotribbean Pop-Up Experience at Gitano Garden of Love. An illustrious crowd, along with international supermodel Joan Smalls, joined Dewar’s in welcoming this new liquor fusion. Guests were introduced to the new Scotribbean language, a quirky combination of traditional Scottish and Caribbean slang that was highlighted during the experience with specialty games, food, and cocktails. Gitano’s Chef Yvan Lemoine provided guests with bites from a specially curated Scottish and Caribbean fusion menu throughout the night.
Dewar’s Caribbean Smooth officially launches on October 1st and will be one in a series of cask extensions from the iconic whisky maker. This Scotribbean Experience, a harmonious fusion of both Caribbean and Scottish culture, is the official kick-off to the October launch and a limited-time pop-up bar.
To bring the captivating cultural immersion to life, the brand flew in renowned bartenders Iain McPherson (from Scotland) and Nicole Fas (from Puerto Rico) to serve as a diverse artistic duo to not just pour their delicious signature cocktails but also to embody the power of cultural unity through a truly unique experience.
The Scotribbean Experience will be open to the public from September 26-28th at Gitano, where Iain and Nicole will offer complimentary Caribbean Smooth Rum Cask cocktails from 5-9 p.m.
