‘Blazing Samurai’ Casts Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Cera & More!

First, let me say that Blazing Saddles was probably the funniest movie I’ve seen. I first saw it two years ago and now it looks like Blazing Samurai is going to take its place.

With a release date of August 4, 2017, you bet that directors Chris Bailey and Mark Koetsier (both of whom worked together on The Lion King in that animation department) and screenwriters Nate Hopper and Ed Stone will include countless references to Blazing Saddles.

In fact, the film’s premise is exactly the same, but again, animated. The film follows a young dog whose mission is to save a town from complete take over by a feline warmonger. And of course we can expect some amazing voice work from Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Cera, Djimon Hounsou, Ricky Gervais, George Takei, Gabriel Iglesias, Aasif Mandvi, Melanie Brown, and Blazing Saddles’ own Mel Brooks, who will be playing the shogun in the film.

Hank, played by Cera, is a dog whose dreams of becoming a powerful warrior are put to the test when it comes down to save the town of Kakamucho from an evil cat, Ika Chu, played by Gervais. Jackson comes in to voice Jimbo, a former warrior cat who teaches Hank how to be a samurai, while Takei comes onboard to play Ohga, a fierce henchman for Ika Chu.

Ika Chu only dresses in the finest . . .furs? Hence he wears Fursace. And as much as Jimbo is helpful, he overdoses a bit much on the catnip.
