“You’re in the arms of the angel, may you find some comfort here.” – Sarah McLachlan
ASPCA held their 20th Anniversary Gala with the Bergh Ball in New York City at The Plaza Hotel, April 20th. The Gala was held in honor of Linda Lloyd Lambert, Bergh Ball Chairman, for her amazing work with animals in affiliation with the fundraising efforts of over $1.5 million for the cause. All proceeds and benefits went in support of vulnerable, homeless, and abused animals.
When speaking to Linda Lloyd Lambert, it was nothing but gratitude for such an honor. “It feels like way too much,” Lambert said. “They could have just said thank you, because I am doing what I love.”
Renowned designers and avid celebrity supporters showcased their support for such a beloved organization. Many to the likes of Isaac Mizrahi, the Master of Ceremonies, along with designer Christian Siriano and activist supporter/model Allie Rizzo.
Even though the beloved pets where the highlight of the evening, there was something to be said about the dramatic, and romantic allure of the décor for the evening, designed by David Beahm with his best friend Jim.
When asked if dog and human start to look alike, after such a long time together, David responded, “We both snore and fart.” That tends to prove a few questions right.
In honor of the real guests, your pets, the After Dark Party was a pet wonderland. With special guest host, and avid ASPCA supporter, Lucy Hale, accented the evening with wit and charm.
The pets highlighted the evening with even more vigor and love than any one person deserves. Volunteers of the event played with the two kittens, while showcasing a plethora of furry companions throughout the evening.
Performances by featured music, The Misshapes, followed a silent auction for young professional supporters. The After Dark Red Carpet guests donned some fan favorites, Pretty Little Liars’, ZZ Ward and Huw Collins. Many celebrity guests enjoyed the after party in support of their adored furry friends.
Huw Collins and wife, Molly Shaheen, showed up and showed out for their two pups at home. “Its easier to look at linear charities to affect the wider consciousness,” says Huw Collins, “but the ASPCA does such good work with animals. And I think when there is mistreatment [of animals] it is a good reflection of how our society is not functioning effectively.”
