New York Fashion Week is all about fashion (obvi). But the truth is, it’s just as fashionable (and fabulous) to be at one of the exclusively held after parties as the runway shows themselves.

These future-inspired styles that TRESemmé Partner & Celebrity Stylist Lacy Redway created, provide a new take on the trending ‘Extra Terrestrial Indulgence’ hair looks that utilize interesting and extravagant textures.
Prior to the show, the backstage area at the Plaza Hotel was a similar situation, with striking hairstyles being created to match the glamorous looks the models would be donning later in the evening. Spearheaded by the talented TRESemmé Partner & Celebrity Stylist, Lacy Redway, the ‘Celestial Box Bun’ emerged as a standout feature, blending elements of futurism with a touch of ethereal elegance.

Redway drew inspiration directly from Siriano’s visionary collection. The aim was to echo the reflective nature of the designs in the hair, while also infusing it with bold and unconventional textures, resulting in a look that exuded both fun and futurism. “My inspiration for this look is quite literally a reflection of Christian’s collection,” Redway said. “When I first saw the clothes, I wanted to mirror the reflectiveness of the designs in the hair while also indulging in blunt and unique textures that make the look feel fun and futuristic.”

Bravo’s Emmy-winning competition series “Project Runway” returns for another season of high stakes and fierce fashions. Returning mentor Christian Siriano, along with judges Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth, takes on 16 new designers from across the United States and abroad, each ready to prove they have what it takes to show a collection at New York Fashion Week and be the next great name in fashion. Each 90-minute episode will test the contestants’ creativity and technique with challenges such as producing a “hauntingly” chic look, an avant-garde look from faux fur, an unconventional cocktail dress with a twist, and in a Project Runway first, the ultimate “Real Housewives” reunion outfit for women from “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” “The Real Housewives of New York City,” and “The Real Housewives of Potomac.”
Runway shows are taken to new heights at cultural destination Lincoln Center and the beautiful hidden gardens at Rockefeller Center. Additionally, in the custom digital series “Project Runway Redemption,” which premieres on Thursday, September 9, with new episodes airing every week until the “Project Runway” premiere, alums from “Project Runway” seasons 17 and 18 go head to head for a chance to win $25,000.

Fashion Week Sightings: Christian Siriano, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada & Zara Larsson
Christian Siriano hosted a celebration afterparty for the debut for his Spring/Summer 2019 show at Tao Downtown. It was a great night to wrap up his iconic runway collection which merged fashion with politics as his show made a political statement rallying for Cynthia Nixon for New York governor. Svedka sponsored the night with delicious drinks from their line of products and tunes by Bella the DJ for the guests to dance the night away.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada showed her collection at Google’s offices in NYC. She showed her designs in conjunction with emerging designers from Latin America at the panel held to celebrate these emerging artists at New York Fashion week. We went backstage with StyleCraft to see how the hair look was done. The lead hair stylist Jorge Luis demonstrates how to create perfectly effortless curls with this small flat iron. Though it is travel sized, its plates are actually longer and larger than most full sized irons. This makes it the perfect tool for hair artists or women on the go at the office.
Epic Records hosted an awesome event at Sony Hall with Zara Larsson performing. Lines wrapped around the block on both sides as fans wanted to see their idol perform at an intimate event. The venue was a wonderful speakeasy type of lounge with a dance floor and a bar so everyone could adequately enjoy themselves. Larsson took the stage in true New York Fashion Week fashion with a red zebra striped jumpsuit with belt accents around the waist and neckline. Fans went crazy when she took the stage and sang her some of most famous hits, “Lush Life”, “Symphony” and “Never Forget You”.
