From renowned creative geniuses Lana Wachowski, Grant Hill (The Matrix, Cloud Atlas) and J. Michael Straczynski (Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, World War Z), Sense8 is centered around eight characters, from different parts of the world, who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by the experience.

They become connected, able to see and talk to each other as though they were in the same place, with access to each other’s deepest secrets. Not only must the eight adapt to this new ability and to each other, they must figure out why their lives are now in jeopardy. In Season 2, dark forces continue to track the cluster of eight connected characters. The sensates will learn more about BPO, the secret organization searching for their cluster and others like them, and will work to protect themselves from this organization that is out to hunt and kill them.

OJ: I’m so excited to be talking to you!

Jamie: And I’m so excited to be talking to you!

OJ: We all love Sense8. Tell me how you first got involved?

Jamie:  I auditioned years ago …

OJ: They didn’t just call you and offer you the part?

Jamie:  Well they didn’t call me and offer me the part, I auditioned (laughs), and the process was tough.  They cast for Nomi, Carmen Cuban did all the casting, and she looked for girls all over the world. Lana really wanted a woman who was trans, who had acting experience to play the part. She wanted some honesty and some authenticity there. I auditioned, and then I auditioned again, and then I did a couple of chemistry tests, and then I got the phone call.

OJ: The material is so riveting and pushes the boundaries. Does it often scare you sometimes when you get the script and you’re like oh my god really, you want me to do that?

Jamie: Yes, that’s an amazing question. Yeah, it terrifies all of us. The thing that I love about the cast is that we’ve gotten so close, and it’s hard. For example for me if I’m in Korea or I’m in London, time difference is so great that I don’t really have a home base with my friends, so, the cast has really become this tight knit family, like we’re brothers and sisters. We really rely on each other as a support system and when we get nervous or freaked out if we have to do a stunt, or with some of the sex scenes, we really rely on each other and the support that we found; it’s so special.

OJ: You guys really broke the internet with Christmas special.

Jamie: You’re going to make me blush!

OJ:  It came out of nowhere. Talk about filming that and how the Christmas special came together.

Jamie: The Christmas special was such a great idea. Lana had this idea. She loves Christmas specials from when she was a kid growing up. She has all these really fond memories.

OJ: That used to be a thing …

Jamie: It used to be a thing with all these amazing shows, right? So she wanted to sort of bring back some of that nostalgia and also give the fans a taste because they’ve been waiting so patiently *thank you* and waiting so long to see something, she wanted to give that to them. It was really great when we found out that we were going to do that and that it was going to be long, so it was sort of like a movie, to give everybody a taste.

OJ: Let’s talk about the future and where your character is heading next.

Jamie: So Nomi and Amanita are on the run from the FBI at the takeoff of season two which is May 5th … It’s exciting because they are on the run, they’re hiding, and then with Whispers and they’re contact with Will, we’re going to learn a ton about BPO, why they’re hunting the Sense8’s . It takes off, it’s fun, it’s sexy,  there’s loads of energy and tons of action.

OJ : We’re all excited to see it , and I can’t wait. Thank you so much!

Sense8 Season 2 will be available to stream globally on Netflix on May 5th
