This past weekend amfAR managed to raise more than $3.5 million for AIDS research at their annual Hong Kong event.
amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advocacy, HIV prevention and extensive AIDS Research. The organization has awarded grants to more than 3,300 research teams worldwide and invested $480 million in its programs since 1985.
On March 26, a handful of big names gathered at the third annual amfAR Gala Hong Kong at Shaw Studios to honor Pansy Ho’s work in the fight against AIDS. Naomi Campbell, Charlize Theron, Jackie Chan and amfAR Chairman of the board were amongst the many who gathered for the event. They stressed the importance of the research being done and thanked guests for showing their support for the cause. The evening featured live performances from British popstar Charli XCX and K-Pop superstar CL. Mark Ronson also wowed the crowd at the after-party with his live DJ set.
Guests engaged in the live auction portion of the event to help the organization raise money. Items available for purchase were an Andy Warhol print of Elizabeth Taylor, the opportunity to be a in a Jackie Chan film, an original photograph of Madonna and more.
