Their signature farm to glass cocktails are to die for…

The well-known restaurant and bar City Perch has made its way into Dobbs Ferry, NY.  Taking a modern twist on classic American cuisine as well as having their signature “farm to glass” cocktails, City Perch is a very chic and glamorous place to dine.  With murals on the ceiling and having pop out wall décor, we knew walking in that we would enjoy this place.  We were treated to an exclusive tasting of some of the drinks and food items on the menu.  And this menu looked so delicious.

Some of the signature drinks being served was the Applejack margarita with bourbon barrel-aged tequila, Laird’s applejack, and farmer’s market cider n apples which was served in a giant punch bowl.  This drink was good with the apple flavor coming through, but had a tequila quick at the end.  If you like that bite at the end of your drinks, then this one is for you.  They also were serving a regular old fashioned.  But, our favorite drink of the night was their ‘Very Berry Mule’ which was their house ginger beer infused with a berry vodka paired with liquid nitrogen.  This drink was sweet and had distinct raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry notes.  And what was even better was that you couldn’t even taste the alcohol, which we loved.

The menu designed for the night was very diverse.  To, start they served a variety of fresh bread, butters, and spreads.  Our favorite bread that they made was the cornbread, which was extremely moist and tasty.  The starter for the night was a Brioche-crusted Maryland blue crab cake which was so moist, tender, sweet, and the sauce pair gave it a slight tang.  We also got to try their tuna crudo with a yuzu aioli and avocado tempura.  The tuna was fresh and bright and paired with the tempura gave a good balance or light and heavy.

For the salad, we really enjoyed their arugula and endive salad with red and gold beets, hazelnut crusted goat cheese, valencia orange segments, maple-balsamic vinaigrette. Arugula paired with beets and goat cheese is such a great combo, especially with the hazelnut crust which gave the goat cheese a nice, crunchy texture.

For the entrée, one our favorite dishes were the roasted long island duck, which was moist, tender, and succulent.  We really could not stop eating this dessert.  Another favorite was the line caught sea bass “Ratatouille” made with gold and green zucchini, marinated eggplant, san marzano tomato, basil pesto.  Honestly, we were sold on the ratatouille part because we really loved the Disney movie and couldn’t wait to try what the rat made in the movie.  But the sea bass was great and tasty and the ratatouille made for a great pair, adding a lot of dimension and brightness to the dish.

And last but not least were the desserts.  Two amazing desserts we tasted were the raspberry red berry pavlova with crispy vanilla meringue, red velvet raspberry chunk ice cream, whipped cream, raspberry sauce and the Black n Blue Pot Pie made with farmers market black & blueberries, flaky puff pastry, blackberry crumble swirl ice cream.  Both were flavorful in their own respect, the pavlova being light and airy and the pot pie being a night sweet and savory combo with the berries and the pastry.

Overall, we loved City Perch, from the décor all the way to the desserts. If you are ever near any of their three locations, you better check it out because you’ll be in for a great meal.
