There’s nothing quite like a food crawl.
Sure, we’re all about the pub crawl on Halloween or Christmas or any possibly any random Friday. But the truth is, we all secretly wish that the pub crawls included some grub (so we wouldn’t end up knee deep in pizza at 4 a.m.). This past Saturday, The Knockturnal headed to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for Thrillist’s Best Day of Your Life, an annual food crawl taking attendees through 10 foodie hotspots and water holes.
The fourth annual food and drink festival featured eats from many neighborhood favorites, including Crif Dogs, Burger Guru, Meatball Shop, Output and more, along with massages, games, and impromptu karaoke. We started off the day at BK’s Rough Trade, where the party was just getting started. Then it was off to try a dozen small bites and special cocktails created just for #BDOYL.
It was all about the chili tater tots and dogs at hot dog staple Crif Dogs and short rib sliders and black/white milkshakes at Burger Guru.
Shelter served up empanadas stuffed with sirloin and scallions while pouring glasses of Cabernet and Chardonnay. Things got HOT (as if it wasn’t already hot enough outside) at Heatonist, where attendees got to try out the Bloody Mary bar and a tasting of five hot sauces. Down the street, Meatball Shop dished up dozens of beef meatballs over polenta.
But a Saturday is never a Saturday without a marg and the day became complete at Rosarito Fish Shack, while slurping an agave nectar marg and white fish ceviche. Falcon Laundry provided jalapeno cocktails while the Kent Ale House got the job done with beer and truffle bacon popcorn. And The Gibson made good on their BBQ word with a traditional pig roast.

When we were sick of snacking, Thrillist made sure we kept busy with tarot reading, a photo booth, and more. And nightclub Output went all out with a kickass rooftop complete with hanging flowers, lights, tunes, and the best view we could have asked for.
But the highlights? Even the cookie monster would be jealous of Schmackary’s custom cookies bar, where we used cereal to make a few custom creations. The crawl ended at Diviera Drive for an after party, followed by Berry Park’s rooftop for the unofficial after party.

By the time we headed home, we were satisfied. And let’s face it, we’re never drinking again. Until next weekend. If only Thrillist cooked this up more than once a year.
