June 8 has been named National Ghostbusters Day, and the old and new cast of the franchise film plan to reunite in celebration.
On Ghostbusters Day, June 8, the original cast – including Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts will join the new cast – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth – in a special celebration of the 1984 original Ghostbusters film on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
In an interview with USA Today, director of the film reboot, Paul Feig said that the reuniting will be epic as these actors combined are “some of the funniest people on the planet.”

“Seeing the original and new Ghostbusters all together [will be] like being in the presence of the comedy gods on Mount Olympus,” he said in a statement.
The revival of the film will also feature a soundtrack with new music, including Elle King’s “Good Girls,” and songs from artists G-Eazy ft. Jeremih, 5 Seconds of Summer, Pentatonix, WALK THE MOON, Fall Out Boy ft. Missy Elliott, Wolf Alice and more.
There’s a lot in store for fans of the franchise film on Ghostbusters Day. For a sneak peek of the film, Fathom Events will be premiering the movie in over 800 cinemas nationwide on June 8, along with showing the original movie.
In addition, in Brooklyn, BBQ Films will present an immersive screening of the classic movie – a transportive experience built around the classic movie called GHOSTBUSTERS HQ. Regal Cinemas will also be a part of the day by rewarding their Crown Club Members with a chance to win a flyaway to the premiere of the new Ghostbusters film in Los Angeles, plus a $2500 gift card for travel and accommodations when they buy a ticket to the movie.
