Livy’s x LEGO Brings ‘Sour’ to the Shelf

A custom shade of purple, and a fridge full of Coozies — Olivia Rodrigo and LEGO's latest collab turns fandom into a scavenger hunt.

Between a five-set collection and a hunt for hidden vinyls, this partnership proves LEGO isn’t just building sets anymore. It’s building a whole era.

LEGO has been on a collaboration streak lately — Olivia Rodrigo’s now part of that lineup. Recent efforts include the FIFA Lego Editions, with sets like a brick-built World Cup Trophy. But this one’s different. Olivia became the first musician ever to get multiple dedicated LEGO sets. Now she and The LEGO Group are taking it further with the LEGO® x Olivia Rodrigo Global Record Hunt, sending fans across participating markets to find one of 333 limited-edition brick-built vinyls hidden in record stores.

Beyond the hunt itself, what’s genuinely impressive is the balancing act underneath it. LEGO had to design five distinct sets that all still read as unmistakably hers. Different enough that fans feel compelled to collect the whole run, not just pick a favorite. They even mixed a brand-new shade of purple just for the collection, which might look like a small detail. But it’s the kind of personalization that turns a product line into something fans actually want to own in full.

That same care carried into the fan event that followed, which matched that same attention to detail. Every corner of the space had been reimagined in Olivia-and-LEGO fashion. This included record bins swapped out for LEGO puns and Rodrigo references, walls lined with posters pulled from her past tours. We can’t forget about the analog TVs looping clips of the pop star in the background. Or the drink fridge stocked with Olivia-themed Coozies and covered in matching magnets. Add in frozen yogurt, a live DJ, and a stop-motion station where fans could build their own mini Olivia concert across different stage setups.  The whole thing felt like a pop-up built by people who actually get the fandom.

Olivia herself arrived at 1:30 PM, walking out to one of her own songs as fans sang along in celebration. What followed was easily the highlight of the night: a Q&A pulled from questions the audience had written themselves, met with genuine adoration from the crowd. The questions and answers felt thoughtfully chosen, and there was a moment in that exchange where a different side of the pop star came through. The whole scene felt less like a performance and more like an actual conversation. It humanized her in a way that closed the distance between artist and fan, and that warmth was easily the sweetest part of the afternoon.

It’s easy to sell a product launch on nostalgia or hype. This one sold itself on something simpler: an artist who showed up like a person. She thanked fans by name and told them she loved them back without missing a beat. I came in as an observer, not a fan. Surprisingly, I left understanding exactly how a moment like that could make someone’s favorite artist, music aside.

The LEGO Editions Olivia Rodrigo collection is available beginning August 1.
