Disney rolled out the Wonderland inspired carpet for the premiere of ‘Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.’The fifth installment in a franchise that’s only gotten bigger with time. The step-and-repeat leaned all the way into the film’s fractured fairytale aesthetic in the best way. It really set the tone for the evening in typical true Disney magic fashion. The celebration went down at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.
Leading the charge were Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker, back as Red and Chloe, alongside returning some returning cast like Leonardo Nam, Rita Ora and Brandy. They were joined by newcomers Liamani Segura, Brendon Tremblay, Alexandro Byrd, Kiara Romero, Joel Oulette, Zavien Garrett, Ryan McEwen, Dayton Paradis and Awkwafina.

Picking up after 2024’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, this chapter finds Red and Chloe facing consequences of altering the timeline as a new villain, Maddox Hatter, threatens Wonderland. We were lucky to be some of the first to watch the film right alongside the cast. The film was phenomenal and contained so many new songs, great dance sequences and amazing choregraphy. Descendant fans and Disney fans are in for a treat with this film.
After the credits rolled, Disney moved the celebration to the Academy Museum’s rooftop, fully reimagined for the occasion. The Wicked Wonderland theme carried through every where with oversized florals, tea cups and special lighting. It really felt as if we had fallen down the rabbit hole and transported into a set from the film. Spotted present were other Disney Channel stars Malachi Barton, Orlando Lucas, and Casey Trotter. Former alum like Cheetah Girls’ Sabrina Bryan and Camp Rock’s Anna Maria Perez de Tagle were there too. Each hanging out with their kids and families respectively.

Against the city skyline, cast and guests mingled into the night, closing out a premiere that made a strong case for why this franchise keeps finding new life. Descendants: Wicked Wonderland premieres Thursday, July 16 on Disney Channel and will be streaming the next day on Disney+.
