Andrew Steak Society is bringing fine dining to New York City’s East Village with its spectacular porterhouse. This new downtown eatery is where you can indulge in beloved classics like medium-rare steak paired with a side of creamed spinach and leave feeling very full and content.

Located in Alphabet City within the East Village at 51 Avenue B, Andrew Steak Society just opened its doors and is already making a mark with its excellent menu filled with an array of steakhouse cuts and side dishes. They boast serving only the finest cuts of meat that are dry-aged for at least 28 days to enhance their flavor and tenderness. Their steaks are also cooked over a wood-fired grill resulting in a deep smoky flavor while maintaining a tender interior.

The Knockturnal recently visited Andrew Steak Society and tried the porterhouse, which was superb. Their premium cut of steak featuring two distinct meat cuts in one—a tender filet mignon on one side and a robust New York strip on the other separated by a T-shaped bone—was flawlessly executed. Overall, the meat was lean, had rich marbling, a bold beefy flavor and a satisfying chew. The steak was plated in the traditional sizzling butter on a burnt plate style.

The steaks offered at Andrew Steak Society include a tomahawk steak that has been dry-aged for 45 days and is bone-in, a filet mignon and a dry-aged ribeye that’s been heavily marbled and finished over open wood flame. The steaks can be accompanied with an array of sauces like black truffle butter, chimichurri and beurre rouge for an extra charge.

Another winner at Andrew Steak Society is their classic burger, which was extremely tasty. Their superior steakhouse burger featured extremely thick but juicy premium meat elevated by high-quality complementary toppings like tomatoes, cheese and mushrooms. For $21, their burger is a steal and absolutely worth it.

To complete any steak meal, sides must be ordered. Andrew Steak Society has a variety of delicious steakhouse staples all priced at $14, which includes mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, truffle fries, sautéed broccolini, grilled asparagus and brussels sprouts. Our favorite was the mashed potatoes that were perfectly whipped, buttery and had a light texture with outstanding taste.

For those who are red meat-averse, Andrew Steak Society offers Maine Lobster, Chilean sea bass, free-range chicken and a roasted eggplant steak that will satisfy all palates. We tasted the Maine Lobster and the dish was small, but the meat was sweet, tender and succulent.

The scene at Andrew Steak Society is intimate and has old-school steakhouse vibes. Their dining room space is dimly lit with red lighting, dark wood paneling, white tablecloths, red velvet booths, grand chandeliers and an open fireplace—precisely everything you want in a memorable steakhouse.

No matter what your dinner order is, there’s something yummy to eat at Andrew Steak Society. So when you’re in Alphabet City, a visit to this steakhouse is most certainly in order.
