A world-class Caribbean rum collaborating with a modern golf brand is not the most obvious pairing on paper.
But after seeing the collection up close, the connection makes perfect sense. Last week, we headed down to Chelsea Piers to check out the new collaboration between Mount Gay Rum and Devereux Golf, and it completely flipped the script on what traditional golf apparel looks like.
The event celebrated the launch of their new limited-edition Course Collection capsule with their partner Devereux. And Devereux, a brand known for breaking the stuffy, old-school rules of golf fashion, was the perfect partner for Mount Gay to team up with. In fact, Mount Gay has been the official rum for several major PGA tournaments over the last few years, so leaning into the golf lifestyle is the perfect landing spot for the brand.

The event celebrating this collection was set right against the water at Chelsea Piers. Guests were able to browse the collection while hitting the driving range, with golf professionals on hand to help everyone dial in their swing. Between practice drives, the bar kept things lively with an incredible assortment of Mount Gay cocktails that highlighted the rich, tropical character of the world’s oldest operating rum distillery.
The real standout of the night, though, was the clothing line itself. The collection features polos, tees, hats, and even golf bags, created with vibrant colors like rich reds, bright blues, and golden yellows that nod to Mount Gay’s Barbadian heritage. What makes the capsule work so well is that you absolutely do not need to play golf to wear it. The sun-washed fabrics and laid-back tailoring feel less like rigid country club attire and more like premium lifestyle gear designed for the beach, the boat, or just grabbing drinks with friends.

By the end of the evening, it was clear that Mount Gay and Devereux managed to do something rare. They honored the heritage of a 300-year-old spirit while completely modernizing the aesthetic of a classic sport. The collection is available online now, and it is the perfect excuse to upgrade your summer wardrobe, whether you plan on hitting the fairways or just the nearest patio bar.
