Johnnie Walker x Devereux: A Spirited Night at the Seaport

Johnnie Walker unveils ‘The Spirit of the Cup’ - a fun and immersive initiative designed to celebrate golf’s evolving culture.

On a late September evening, South Street Seaport played host to something rare in New York nightlife: a celebration that was as playful as it was polished.

Johnnie Walker and Devereux Golf teamed up to unveil their new “Spirit of the Cup” collection—a collaboration that manages to bottle both swagger and subtlety, much like a good scotch whisky itself.

Down by the water, the crowd moved between a bustling bar, a live DJ, and a very popular merch table stacked with soft, branded tees and golf accessories —tokens of a partnership that marries the refinement of Scotch with the cheeky irreverence of modern golf culture.

Naturally, the cocktails were the centerpiece. Johnnie Walker, ever the showman, kept things lively with drinks that leaned inventive without losing balance. One moment, I had a crisp highball that sang with citrus and fizz; the next, a deeper, brooding mix with notes of smoke and honey. Each drink felt like a small reminder that Johnnie Walker is more versatile than it often gets credit for. This is especially relevant when we tried the Blue Label, which they lavishly had on tap, so to speak. And then there was the food—chicken fingers, pigs in a blanket, mozzarella sticks, and shrimp, done with just enough style to keep spirits high without veering into formality. If whisky is about savoring, these bites were about sharing: the kind of fare that disappears quickly because you’re laughing, talking, and not paying much attention until the plate is empty.

The beauty of the evening was in its balance. It was part fashion drop, part cocktail party, and part golf clubhouse hangout—polished but unpretentious, much like Devereux’s design aesthetic. A celebration of style, sport, and spirits, wrapped into one breezy downtown night.

Walking away, merch in hand and whisky warmth in my chest, I couldn’t help but think: if golf has always been about tradition, this collaboration is about changing things. As the VP from Johnnie Walker stated, “This is about pushing golf forward”.
