alice + olivia 2023 Fashion Show Empowers Women

The label ‘alice + olivia’ celebrated innovation at their 2023 fashion show. The garments brought a contemporary twist to 1950s fashion. DJ duo Angel + Dren played lively electronic music. Skateboarders and dancers showed off their impressive talents. Designer Stacey Bendet hopes to empower women through clothing.

Bendet launched her brand in 2002. The clothes juxtaposed sexy and mature with whimsical and flirty styles. The elaborate lifestyle collection included gowns, shoes, and ready-to-wear garments. Celebrity fans consisted of Michelle Obama, Beyoncé, and Gigi Hadid. The label featured vintage-style formal wear at their February 2023 fashion show.

New York’s glamorous Highline Stages hosted the event. Sponsors included Nick Stenson Beauty, Too Faced Cosmetics, and JINSoon. The outfit theme ‘Skater Stripes’ touched on early 2000s and Y2K styles. Another theme ‘Rock and Roll History’ brought back 90s grunge with vegan leather jackets. Models sported eye-catching vintage fashion with bright colors.

Model Devon Windsor dazzled the audience in a toffee vegan leather trench coat. Tayshia Williams dressed more casually: a vibrant red cardigan, blue jeans, and white boots. Bendet and model Coco Rocha modeled vibrant ready-to-wear sets.

Rocha’s monochrome blue pants-suit played on ‘70’s style. The look featured flared sleeves and a strapless triangular crop top. Rocha’s pants showcased a wide-leg flare. Bendet wore a statemental gold-and-blue cardigan. It juxtaposed her black top and bell-bottoms. The long sweater complimented her silver belt. The ‘Modern Glamor’ theme showcased similar looks.

The black-and-gold tweed blazer thrilled the audience. The jacket featured fringe and chain detailing. Bendet paired a black satin bustier with gold encrusted sequin mini skort and black vegan jacket. The skort served as an assertive and dramatic piece. Bendet discussed America’s achievements in the fashion industry.

She said, “we created denim and lead the way for what defines pop culture.” Her theme ‘Denim Couture’ redefines ‘90s retro trends. The black tulle strapless mini gown provided a glamorous, formal look. Bendet paired a mirror Klay bustier with a Jeff lace denim oversized jacket and a black low-rise JC pant. She combined classic Americana styles with images of vintage snacks.

In one landscape, classic snacks see large proportions. The images of buttery popcorn and savory potato chips enticed attendees. Another art piece depicted a classic American road trip. A ‘90s Jeep took center stage. Road trip memories made attendees nostalgic. Bendet discussed the classic icon’s inclusion. 

The high-end designer did not want to comment on simply one icon. Instead, Bendet exclaims “it’s about all sorts of women being icons.”
