Ode to the holidays that make us feel creepy, crawly and smile with wicked delight.
New York Restoration Project marked more than two and a half decades of championing transformational open spaces and beautiful community gardens throughout New York City with its 26th annual gala. This year Hulaween and the Seven Deadly Sins took place on October 28 at Cipriani South Street.
Hulaween’s 2022 honorees are NYRP Trustee Samuel M. Ashner, managing Director at Winthrop Capital Partners, Tony Award® winning actress Jane Krakowski, Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15), and Sondra Wenger, Head of Americas Commercial Operator Division, CBRE Investment Management.
“I want to thank you for supporting the restoration project and for doing your part in making our city the greatest and greenest in America,”said Torres during his acceptance speech.
The divine dinner included NYRP Trustee Michael Kors and 2021 Hulaween Honoree Lance Le Pere judging the beloved annual costume contest. Performance artists from the House of Yes appeared as the Seven Deadly Sins Muses to embody the excesses of Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth. Emcee for the evening was comedian Kerry Coddett.
The soiree concluded with Ava Max performing her hits live, including the iconic “Sweet But Psycho,” and her new single “Million Dollar Baby.” Special sinful images for Hulaween and the Seven Deadly Sins created by artist Bob Bottle.
Then uptown, author Leesa Rowland hosted her “Royal Halloween Ball” at The Lotos Club in New York City – an affair combining Regal Spendor with a heartfelt tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The light-hearted party was a throwback to the times of Kings, Queens and the Royal Court. Guests wore their best Court inspired costumes while enjoying cocktails, and dancing to live music. The Reception was held in the exquisite Library at The Lotos Club and all around where cut-outs representing leading members of the Royal Family of the United Kingdom along with Guardsmen, the Royal Carriage and, of course, the Queen’s Corgi’s.
