From the director and writer of box office hit Get Out and Us, Jordan Peele introduces the sci-fi horror film, NOPE.
The film stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, Steven Yeun, and Brandon Perea as residents of an isolated town who unintentionally become witness to an unexplainable event. Desperate to make sense of what they have seen, they attempt to capture video evidence of the unidentified flying object with the help of documentarian Antlers Holst [Michael Wincott].
The film premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles on July 18, 2022 with major stars showing their support. Notable guests included Michael B. Jordan, Steph & Ayesha Curry, Kelly Rowland, John Boyega, Karrueche Tran, Lil Rel Howery, Kendrick Sampson, and of course the entire cast and crew of NOPE. Fans and admirers of Peele’s work understand that there is a certain anonymity to the Get Out director’s films, spiking curiosity and speculation as to what the films are actually about. While Peele likes to leave it up to viewers to dissect their own interpretation and perspective, there is always a hint of having to read between the lines. “When I made Get Out, I knew I wasn’t going to get a lot of money for that so I knew that the cinematic gives had to be in the plot structure and the reveals so it’s just my style,” Peele reveals. A style that leaves viewers on edge and ready to be first in line at theaters to crack his code.
However, not all viewers flock to the theaters to unpack the deeper meaning behind a Jordan Peele film, some are simply there to be entertained. “I’m ready to be entertained, that’s it. I’m going to go for the experience,” Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker actor John Boyega shared. On the other hand, Get Out star Lil Rel Howery pressed his former costar Kaluuya for details and answers to no avail. Well the wait has finally come to an end as NOPE will be released theatrically on July 22 by Universal Pictures.
