We first met Keke Palmer when she played the gifted lead in “Akeelah and the Bee.”
But Keke is all grown up and playing by her own rules. The child actor has turned to music and recently released a song and visual for her latest track “Bossy.”
On Wednesday, the 24-year-old hosted her listening party at The 40/40 club here in NYC. She spoke exclusively with The Knockturnal about her latest album The Boss, what she wants her fans to know and what she does to make sure she stays fit.
The Knockturnal: What We Can Expect From Her Album
Keke Palmer: As far as the album goes the inspiration is this area of my life. I’m really owning the fact that I have been in the industry for 15 years and I’m starting my own label and just taking things in my own hands, especially in my music. I always set the rules and tones for my acting and I started producing when I was 17. But as far as music goes I am on the vibe with that and that is exactly what the album is about.
The Knockturnal: What She Wants Her Fans To Know About Her
Keke Palmer: I want my fans to know I am always going to be in everything. When my fans see me going hard on music or they see me going hard on acting I want them to know it doesn’t mean I’m choosing one or the other. I’m a creative so I go back and forth always and I want to merge the two worlds as well. Which is why I love what I get to do on Star.
The Knockturnal: How She Stays Snatched
Keke Palmer: I go hard, well let me be honest. I’ll go hard for about four months then I’ll take off for about a month or two but I also worry about what I eat. When I’m focused I do heavy protein and greens and light carbs to gain muscle. But when I’m really focused I keep it strict like that or do some protein shakes.
