Backstabbing for Beginners, directed by Per Fly, premiered Tuesday night at the iPic Theater in Fulton Market. The film stars Ben Kingsley and Theo James and was adapted from the true memoir of Michael Soussan.

The night began with a few words from Soussan, who was ecstatic to see his real-life experience on the screen. While working at the United Nations, Soussan investigated the murder of his predecessor and uncovered one of the largest global conspiracies in modern history. Believing he was working for the Oil-for-Food program,  Soussan discovered a corruption that led all the way back to Saddam Hussein.

Theo James (The Divergent Series) embodies the young Michael Soussan, who seeks help from Pasha, an older, seasoned diplomat portrayed by Ben Kingsley (Schindler’s List, Gandhi). The star-studded cast includes Belçim Bilgin, Rossif Sutherland, and Rachel Wilson.

Soussan’s incredibly poignant and acclaimed memoir becomes an art form on the screen. The film premieres everywhere Friday, April 27.
