This Saturday, Asia Fashion Collection held their debut FW 18 show at Spring Studios during NYFW. In partnership withย Vantan Inc. and PARCO Co., LTD., 7 designers were able to feature their collections outside of Asia as part of the incubation project.ย
Hailing from Japan, Fumiko by Fumika Hayashi explored anย โa gloomy, girly world between reality and fantasyโ with casual streetwear inspired by feminine details and pastel color palette. รpi รก la mode by Miho Tsusumi also showcased womenswear with a tomboy twist and AH by Aoi Wanaka & Hyown Lee took to nature and florals to invoke storytelling within each piece.
South Korean designer Daeun Lee took a less conservative approach to her label, VLEEDA, by taking inspiration from artwork to textile. Menswear label shen yao by Shen Yao Huang broke gender barriers with his androgynous take on proportions, ranging from high waisted trousers to delicate patterns.
Hong Kong designer Key Chow of KA WA KEY also took masculinity from its traditional gender confines to express a more soft, sensual identity with non-uniform proportions, and fellow Hong Kong labelย CHAN CHIT LO by Venus Lo took menswear on a rugged and handcrafted theme ofย โHoarding โ One manโs trash becomes another manโs treasure.โ
