At the forefront of luxury footwear, designer sisters Krystal and Marilyn Lavoie, showcased their Angela Mitchell Fall/Winter 2018 Collection at New York Fashion Week on Sunday, February 11th.
The native Canadian designers have made a name for themselves in the industry with their intricately detailed collections made of superior- grade Italian leathers catered to both men and women.
Displayed on a Sahara-inspired set with screens playing a short film shot in Morocco, Angela Mitchell’s themed collection came to fruition at Industria- Studio 10 in New York City. The FW18 Tichka collection was born on the idea of creating a line revolving around the two sisters’ journey to the Northern coast of Africa. Inspired by the colors, prints, and patterns of Moroccan landscapes, the collection embodied exquisite bohemian-chic vibes, neutral tones reminiscent of arid days, and dark colors to match the night sky.
Each shoe in the collection contained lavish qualities juxtaposed with artisanal details to create a portfolio of contemporary and classic styles. The women’s collection, ranging from the ‘Tichka’ knee-high boot, to oxfords, to fringe-embellished pumps, featured extravagant geometric patterns adorned with precious jewels that are contrastingly completed by leather materials for a jarring effect. Similarly, the men’s collection included various takes on different oxford and loafer styles designed with bold, tribal patterns, such as the ‘Tizi’ oxford.
It is safe to say that Angela Mitchell’s Tichka collection depicted sheer authenticity and sophistication, by not only bringing together modernized elements with creative expression but also focusing on having a lasting value with impeccable quality and comfort.
Notable attendees included: Danielle Staub, Christine Staub, Fern Mallis, Bobby Wesley, actresses Malgosia Garnys and Ayesha Perry, Carolina Lindo, Daria Borisova, Paulina Cebrzynska, Vienna Skye, and Michelle Madonna.
