It was an electric, sugary night at Dylan’s Candy Shop in NYC on Tuesday, December 3rd.
The queen of all media and SNAX-sational ambassador, Wendy Williams teamed up to host their second annual giving Tuesday. This year’s event was benefiting Operation Backpack, which is a community service of volunteers of America-greater New York. The event not only raised awareness for the children in need of a home in New York but proceeds from this fundraiser also benefit filling more backpacks with school supplies.
Notable guests included: Wendy Williams, Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Jennifer Aydin, and TLC/HGTV star Paige Davis along with Snax-sational brand partners, Jerry Bello and Frank Florio along with others.
Inside, guests engaged with Wendy, enjoying delicious snacks by Butterfinger Candy Pop, TWIX Candy Pop, and Pasta Snacks inclusive of Penne Straws, Pasta Chips and Disney Bowtie Minis.
The night concluded with great conversations, tons of sugar and themed cocktails featuring Butterfinger and TWIX candy created by mixologist and Dylan’s Candy Bar in House Cafe Manager, Miguel Oliver.
Operation Backpack ensures that every child living in a homeless shelter in New York City who needs a backpack has one filled with top-quality, grade-specific school supplies before the first day of school. By having it in their hands ahead of time, students can begin to feel excited about returning to the classroom and avoid the stigma that comes with being homeless from day one.
Additional Sighting: Queer Eye star Karamo Brown joined Pizza Hut and literacy partner First Book to announce a holiday fundraiser Literacy Project Fundraiser to increase access to culturally representative children’s books in communities across the country. To celebrate the kick-off of the fundraiser on Giving Tuesday, Karamo read his new book “I Am Perfectly Designed” to students at a Los Angeles elementary school to shed light on the importance of accepting who you are – exactly as you are – and providing children with inclusive books that celebrate diversity. Additional Sighting: McDonald’s announced a new, and easier, way to donate to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) with the launch of Round-Up for RMHC. The innovative technology introduces giving to the menu by providing customers the opportunity to Round-Up their purchase to the nearest whole dollar.
With the option available at approximately 14,000 McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, customers now have an easier and more convenient way to donate to RMHC and help families with ill or injured children stay together with home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and laundry facilities near to the medical care they need at leading hospitals.
“At McDonald’s, we know the importance of bringing families together. For over 45 years, McDonald’s, our franchisees and our customers have been proud supporters of Ronald McDonald House Charities,” said Chris Kempczniski, McDonald’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “As a founding mission partner of the Charity, McDonald’s remains committed to leveraging the size and scale of our restaurants to promote and raise money to support the growth of the Charity.”
From December 10-22, McDonald’s owner/operators will host “60 Minutes of Moments” events at select restaurants across the country, inspired by the moments families share at a Ronald McDonald House, such as dances and craft parties. The events will give local community members an opportunity to come together and see firsthand the impact RMHC has on families, while also having fun.
