Ok, New York. We did it. We survived the first snowfall of the season.
Winter is here and that means more Netflix and ski trips upstate.
But, winters in the city can be just as fun as summers in the Hamptons and we’ve rounded up a list of our favorite finds to get us through the coldest of winter days.
Shaken not stirred
A good margarita never goes out of style (or season)! And with Tequila having less calories than other liquors, drinking the agave goodness just leaves more room for indulging on holiday treats ie: pumpkin pie and eggnog.
Our friends over at Mi Campo Tequila shared with us a cocktail recipe perfect for the holiday season. We love that this tequila is made from 100% blue weber agave and comes in both Blanco and Reposado editions.
Tequila Mi CAMPO Jericalla
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz Mi CAMPO Reposado
½ oz Vanilla Syrup
½ oz Fresh Lime Juice
1 Egg White
Method: Measure and pour all the ingredients into empty cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Add ice and shake vigorously again. Fine strain into Chilled glass and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg.
No fireplace? No problem
Sure, sitting by the fireplace with a glass of pinot noir sounds amazing. But not likely on a Thursday in New York unless you want to hang out in the lobby of Gramercy Park hotel all night.
Lighting a bunch of candles can tie you over – at least until you get out of the city.
We’re loving these Homesick Candles which retail at $29.95. They incorporate iconic designs and scents to trigger the emotions and memories of a special place or time. ie: being home from the holidays.
Pamper yourself
If a good pedicure is summer’s must-have beauty routine, then a good facial is most certainly winter’s. All that dry air and wind can do major damage to our skin.
Stay moisturized, cleansed and relaxed with a visit to SKINNEY MedSpa in NYC. We love this particular spa for the way they incorporate technology into all their facials and procedures. The SKINNEY Medspa Glow Facial is perfect for winter as it combines a brown sugar scrub (made in house no less) with a facial steam that’s uber relaxing. A Vitamin C serum is then massaged onto the skin followed by a Hyaluronic Acid sheet mask pressed in by an ultrasound wand. Not that kind of wand – but with the way our skin looked after this facial, it may as well be winter magic!
Learn a new skill
We’ll admit it. We’ve become obsessed with taking classes in the city. Did you know you can take an introduction to improv class for $10 at Sunday Night Improv? Or take an introduction to pottery class at La Mano Pottery in Chelsea. Classes fill up fast so plan ahead and bring a Bumble date. Because Ghost, obviously.
