Hopping on the successful trend of artist themed pop-ups, this past Friday, VFiles opened the doors to its collaboration with Cash Money Records.
The store was hollowed out, its walls draped with red and black fabrics sporting album covers and re-creations of vintage themed tour merch. Most pieces fit in the recent wave that everyone loves with flashy late 90’s early 2000’s graphics, mixed with the more minimalistic aesthetic presents in modern style.
The store was consistently busy during the opening and fans loitered outside the storefront before and after shopping. The setup and presentation was as equally fashion as it was Hip Hop, attracting passersby from both lanes. For a first step into the pop-up shop game, Birdman definitely did a fine job. The capsule was concise and cohesive to a theme, and fans responded really well. I think it would be a lot more interesting to see a more extensive pop-up from Cash Money in the future. They have the means, and with this first one seeming like a success, I think trying their hand at a weekend long store would gain a lot more traffic.
As of now there’s no way to nab the pieces online, so if you missed the opening, you’ll have to keep your eyes glued to Cash Money’s feed and hope they’re planning another one.
