The definitive entertainment industry news source, Variety has proudly announced the honorees for its Power of Women: New York event.
In partnership with Lifetime, Variety is excited to bring together an intimate group of the entertainment industry’s most philanthropic women who have been selected as Variety’s “Lifetime Impact Honorees” at Cipriani Midtown on April 8, 2016. Variety’s annual New York Woman’s Impact Report which profiles the most impactful women in entertainment and media this year has influenced the decisions for the Power of Women: New York event. Each of the honorees will also be featured on the front cover of the New York Women’s Issue on April 5.
The honorees include best-selling author and principal dancer at the American Ballet Theater, Misty Copeland (Project Plié), anchor of Fox News Channel’s The Kelly File, Megyn Kelly (ChildHelp), Academy Award and Emmy Award winning actress, Julianne Moore (Everytown for Gun Safety), Academy Award winning actress and star of Broadway’s Eclipsed, Lupita Nyong’o (Mother Health International), and fashion designer Vera Wang (The Youth Anxiety Center).
“We are honored to provide a platform that celebrates the outstanding women in entertainment who support and promote philanthropic causes making the world a better place to live,” stated Michelle Sobrino Stearns, Group Publisher of Variety.
The event will include a luncheon for guests comprised of entertainment and media insiders. They will participate in celebrating the philanthropic efforts of these outstanding women. Guest will also have the opportunity to enjoy a VIP pre- and post-ceremony cocktail party to engage with charities and brand sponsors. Billy Eichner, star of Hulu’s Difficult People and host of truTV’s Billy on the Street, will be hosting the luncheon.
The event will be powered by Karma Automotive, who will be presenting the Karma award at the event to a soon to be announced recipient.
